ENDOCRINOLOGY
There are more than 170 endocrine diseases, impacting people of all ages. Patients often require lifelong treatment, which seriously impact their quality of life. Many endocrine diseases are still incurable now, and existing therapies have limited benefits or cause great side effects, which are yet to be resolved.
Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a condition caused by the inadequate secretion of growth hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary gland. GHD can happen in children, and also in adults. The prevalence of GHD is approximately 1/5,000 [1] in children and approximately 2-3/10,000 [2] in both children and adults.

Clinical studies have shown that as the number of missed injections per week increases, the rate of growth improvement decreases [3]. Long-acting growth hormone can reduce injection frequency, which is expected to improve patient compliance, prolong duration of treatment and potentially resulting in better outcomes [4].
Optimizing Height Achievement
Children with GHD may not achieve full height potential if left untreated
Body
Composition
Increased fat mass, decreased muscle mass and decreased bone density can occur soon after treatment discontinuation
Mental Health
A high incidence of psychiatric disorders, usually accompanied by poor life quality, is associated with adults who had GHD as children
Cardiovascular
Disease
Early discontinuation of GH treatment may induce impairment of patients’ lipid profiles and cardiac function, leading to an increased risk for CV disease
Fractures
Adult peak bone mass is considerably lower, and rates of fractures are significantly higher among adults with GHD who were not treated as children
